Determination Of The Effect Of Cooling Rate And Strontium Amount On Eutectic Si Modification Performance Of A356 Alloy Via Casting Simulation

It is well-known that strontium addition into molten metal as a eutectic modifier increases the elongation and toughness values of cast parts by refining phases. However, when over-modification occurs, porosity due to some unwanted physical chemical reactions develop within structure. On other hand, it has been seen high cooling rates tend reduce alloy, decrease grain size secondary dendrite arm spacing refine silicon phase on Al-Si casting alloys. Within scope this project, aimed investigate effects rate part amount modification behavior Al A356 (AlSi7Mg) alloy using simulation environment. In order examine effect addition, 150, 250, 350 450 per million additions were chosen based thermodynamic calculations. After session each composition with different special designed 5-spoke mold simulation, thermal analysis was done obtained thermocouple data from part’s spoke. Obtained interpreted outputs. all aspects, 150 identified most useful model in terms performance.
